curved girders
can anyone point me in the direction of some good references/basic beam theory related to horizontally curved girders?
thanks
engineering mechanics of solids by egor p. popov

working in new zealand, thinking of my snow covered home...
of course it is already checked out of the library.
the book i have is advanced strength and applied stress analysis by budynas.  it covers curved beams loaded in the radial direction... which structurally isn't really important.
i'm looking for something like a curved highway girder loaded transversely.
in the first site listed below, under beams -> curved -> curved beams, you find some ready for use calc.sheets.

great site.
i see they show the formulas they use, but i am interested as to how they get to those equations.
it is explained by the 'info' and 'formulas' buttons.

check out "design of welded structures" by blodgett.
take a look at the "aashto guide specifications for horizontally curved steel girder highway bridges" at the following link:
hi mike
aashto has several examples that can be downloaded for free:
hi,
the reference i know is : " estructuras metalicas " by c. nachtergal ed blume, spain, 1969. pages 452, 453.
the original title is " charpentes metalliques" - belgium.
the equations for bendding and torsional moments are derived in this book.
