designing with eastern redwood
all,
has anyone worked with this species of wood before? i could not find information within nds but did find something under usdas forrest project laboratory, wood handbook, however i'm a little confused with that data. for instance, engineering properties for wood species in both the nds and fpl for say doug fir do not matching nor does the fpl have the variety of wood grades like the nds. any thoughts?
i meant eastern redcedar. sorry.
also called western juniper...
juniperus virginiana...final answer.
wood handbook values are average values for clear wood (no knots) whereas engineering book values are statistical a- or b-values?
how do you know if your species complies with ibc, section 2303 for minimum standards and quality without having actually seen the material?
if you are dealing with structural lumber then the material should have a grade stamp. for example #2, stud grade, ect.
the first place to start would be with the northeastern lumber manufacturers association (nelma). if they can't help you then contact nlga of canada. |
