fasteners for treated wood
i understand that the treated wood in our area is treated now with either (alkaline copper quat) acq-c and acq-d, or(copper azole)cba-a and ca-b. what type of nails, screws and bolts should we be using?
with the new pressure treated products on the market ensure the approprate connector in contact with pt are used.
see:
i found this new product in a mag, the concept sound logical but hard to ensure 100% compiance.
yorkwrap鈩?non-adhesive polymeric isolation tape* is a flexible, 20 ml. thick pvc membrane designed to isolate acq pressure treated lumber from galvanized metals.
some fasteners are marked 'double galv', these are usually 120 or better (1.2oz/sqft). you need this or higher for the acq or ca materials.
it is very important to prevent standing water. there are a number of fastner systems that don't go through the deck boards, but grip from the sides. these should have an advantage. |
