for those who familiar with simpson hangers
how come they do not have any adjustable slopeable/skewable hanger for (3)-2x ? but they do have it lsu3510-2 which is for lvl but it should fit (3)-2x (4 1/2 to 4 3/4 wide). has anyone noticed this? i have been specifying lsu3510-2 for sloped or skewed (3)-2x12.

i think you are using the correct hanger for a 3 ply 2x. it states in the catalog that the lsu3510-2 works for widths 4 1/2" - 4 3/4". why they did not list this hanger in the earlier sawn lumber section?
i think i may know a possible reason why.
think of the bottom plate of the hanger as a very flexible support beam. now if three joists were installed and were able to slide independently of each other then the support for the middle ply will give more than the outer 2.
this could be an issue for the skewed hangers which are a bit more flexible than the standard ones.
just a thought.
csd, i have nailing schedule on how to sister 3 2x together so it should act as one.

a hanger for a 6x member would work too, just using 1/2" plywood filler plates to each side and nailed to the 3-2x beam. no worries.
