foundation for temporary structure
i have to support a load of 30 tons temporarily. i am using a pipe of 160mm outer diameter.this pipe has to be supported on the ground. the soil is loose sand. if i remove the top layer of soil and replace it with road base material to compact for a depth of atleast 2feet. then by placing some spreader plates ( either steel or timber planks) will the pipe can be supported on the ground ?
i can not go for any sort of footing ( permanent construction). i need some guidance.
kags, you should be aware that the bearing capacity of the subgrade is required in order to answer your question. then it's simple statics to spread a post load onto a given area and calculate stresses.
