hung pipe weight
how can i find the weight of standard plumbing piping? i know what size the pipe is (ie. 8" cast iron soil pipe)
how/where do i find out the weight (lb/ft) of this?
check out our whitepaper library.
i've got a copy of an american pipe manual. lots of information and they seem more than happy to give them out. eight inch cast (actually ductile) iron pipe weighs 48 pounds per foot. the pipe weighs 24 lbs/ft and the water weighs 24 lbs/ft.
you should also allow for rollers, hangers, etc. a very useful source is the pipe hangers & supports catalog from b-line weights for many types of pipe, recommended maximum span between supports and it provides information (including weights) on different types of supports.
a very good web resource (though may not have cast iron pipes): |
