illinois se exam
if you have a pe license in another state, what is required to be able to take the se exam in illinois? does your work history have to be under a licensed se?
find a job or post a job opening
you are likely to find the answer at the illinois department of professional regulation or whatever the department is called.
whatever the moniker, that department is also in charge of morticians, beauticians, real estate agents etc.  not a very flattering group to be associated with.
otherwise try the structural engineers association of illinois (
in 1991 i was in the exact situation you describe - a licensed pe from another state trying to get my se in illinois.  i applied for comity but was refused - had to take the se-1 and the se-2 and then got my se.  they would not accept the principles in practice (pe) exam...it had to be both se exams.  i don't believe that it's changed since then.
i called and it still is the se1 then se2 requirement. they said 4 years experience is also required to be able to take the se2 test. the se2 test is $491 per try.
if you have taken the str i for your pe license, il will accept that score for the str i portion of the exam.  you will have to have your state board forward that information to il.  you will still have to take and pass the str ii, and that can be challenging at times...study hard and don't get frustrated if you don't pass the first time.
