latest findings from nist world trade center investigation
final recommendations from nist scheduled for release in june 2005.
for those in new york city on april 20, 2005, dr. s. shyam sunder from nist will be giving a two-hour presentation on this subject at the hilton new york, 1335 avenue of the americas (commonly known as 6th avenue) from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
the lecture is open to the public, free of charge. 2 pdh's will be given.
what a terrible event. this is one day i will never forget as long as i live. i was in cleveland when it happened. i was taking welding class from lincoln foundations. dr. omer blodgett was one of the presenters that morning. my wife called me in tears with the bad news. dr. blodgett worked on the welding design of the towers during the design and construction. he instantaneously said that the towers were designed for an airplane striking them. of course they were not thinking of events of this magnitude.
it was a heart breaker for me as an engineer. we spend many hard and long hours designing and creating beautiful buildings just to see them come down by shameful and cowardly acts. not to mention the innocent lives that were lost.
my two cents worth.
