lattice type beam loads
evening all,
just wondering how do i go about working out the vertical load on a lattice type beam with ends facing vertically i.e
\/
..
/\
with the dots being the hinge pins.
i cant figure out how to work out the load on each beam section and each pin joint at its maximum load and at various points for any given angle
thanks fors the help
harry
i dont understand what you are asking, is this beam a truss?
im not sure on the words to use here as ive never done anything like this before so i dont know what the terms are.
imagine a lattice beam but instead of attaching the ends of the cross pieces to the beams frame you attach them to eachother by means of bearings so when you close the bottom to
hi crashforce
from the picture you posted its a scissor type of mechanism.
you need to know the vertical force at the one end and then resolve the forces in each member for the angle they are set in.
basically each link is just a two force member and the load
is transferred via the linkage to the pins
