linear load on composite deck
i am looking at an existing composite floor, a concrete slab on steel deck, to carry mobile selves which run on tracks. the deck is designed for 195psf and the tracks have a weight of 1000 pound per linear foot . how would you check this floor for this type of new loading. the tracks are 72" apart and run in the direction of the flutes of the deck.
thanks
check out our whitepaper library.
park all of the shelves at one beam and check it for deflection and stresses. add live load to the areas not filled by shelves and see if the components are adequate. use small impact factor on shelving, (<30%), in combination with the previuos two loads and see if this total over stresses the deck, beam or columns.
check out the united steel deck datasheets
you should put it between beams, not on a beam, to check the deck.
you would probably want to check the shear capacity of the deck, too. the united steel deck manual has a good example of this. |
