masonry wall with insulation inserts in cores
does anyone have direct experience with cmu walls built with this type of insulation?  there are at least a few manufacturers of this type of insert.  it appears to be a pretty slick way of building a single-wythe insulated (and even reinforced) wall.
i'd like to know (without necessarily naming specific manufacturers, etc.) if there are any helpful hints, sore points, general comments (good or bad), masonry contractor acceptance or abhorrence, etc.
how's that for a pretty general question?
say, by the way, why do you suppose that eng-tips.com doesn't have a masonry engineering forum? (just curious)
thanks for reading this.  have a great day!
here (spain) is more common to see lightweight clay blocks for this purpose (no separate isolation material). have more or less specific ways of laying them, not difficult to follow. not even these are much accepted but by village builders.
