| mechanical room live load the new new york state code doesn't specifically bullet "mechanical rooms" in their minimum live load table in chapter 16.
any thoughts on this, or where i can find it?
 thanks,

without specific mechanical unit sizes and weights, i use 125psf and treat it as light storage/manufacturing.
i would use the following (reference is unified facilities criteria design: structural load data ufc 3-310--01, table b-1):
mechanical rooms for hvac 125 psf
general mechanical rooms = 100 psf
mechanical telephone and radio equipment room 150 psf
keep in mind some other rooms may require higher load. i have used them for years.
 regards,
 lutfi
the old wisconsin building code used 75 psf, or the weight of the actual equipment.  i typically use 75 psf, in commercial applications.  in an industrial building, the mechanical equipment could be considerably more heavy duty, and a higher live load would be warranted.
