overhead crane
hi
i'm inquiring about how to design the beams for an overhead crane. the beams have to be about 60ft long and are spaced 48 ft apart from one another.
i'd like to know if there are any sites where i can look up the equations, loads to be considered etc, to be able to design my supporting beams.
any help is greatly appreciated
crane manufacturers association of america (cmaa) specifications no 70 and no 74 will probabily have what you want.
cmaa is now part of material handling industry of america (mhia), their web site is
not sure where you live but in the uk we use british standard bs2853 (available from the british standards institution).  this is a permissible stress code and covers allaspects of steel runway beam design.
