precast/tilt up wall
for a precast/sitecast wall supporting a large dead load, what deflection would you limit to? i think h/180, but cannot find this for sure. thanks
find a job or post a job opening
l/180 sounds reasonable
thanks, thats what i was thinking, but wanted to see what others thought.
the maximum out of plane deflection, as per aci318-08, shall not exceed l/150. and, asce recommends using the following load combinations for the purpose.
d+0.5l+0.7w
d+0.5l+0.7e
you can find these load combinations in appendix c of asce 7-05.
hope this is helpful.

very nice. thanks stucguy
be sure to note that for slender wall design using aci318-08, section 14.8, service load deflection is to be calculated per equation 14-8, by iteration of delections.
