pucher charts
has anyone used pucher charts for bridge deck slab local effects design? if yes, could youplease drop few lines on the method to use it and if possible attach a copy of the charts also to understand the process.
cheers
shaurya
i attach extracts of some standard cases of pucher chart. i have used it and compared with some fem analysis. the results are surprisingly similar.
the method is simple; written at the top of the charts.
mark the point loads to scale on the chart where you think the worst case is likely to be. read off the co-efficients on the chart. multiply each load by the corrosponding co-efficient. divide the whole lot by (8.pi) as it says on top of the chart.
the result is value in knm/m.
if you have any problems, i will dig up a worked example and send you.
normm,
did you get your charts from:
einflussfelder elastischer platten =: influence surfaces of elastic plates
if so where did you buy this book, i have been meaning to get a copy of the book for a while, gave a few online book stores ago a while back and but they were unable to get a copy.
when in doubt, just take the next small step.
normm,
thats fabulous.
this is waht i was looking for.
regards
in the uk this book is available at the institutions of civil engineers or strucrural engineers libraries. the text in the book is in german, not much use to someone like me. rowingengineer, i think that is the book.
the book has many other loadcases and also influence surfaces for shear. i have only selected common cases of bending influence surfaces in pdf format.
normm,
could you please also extract other pages of the pucher chart about the calculation of shear forces? thank you!
