pump foundation
hi everyone,
can anyone please tell me for a a pump with following specifications:
power 7.5 hp
frequency 60 hz
rpm 1200
weight 857.5 lbs
dimensions 52 " length, 15" width, 28.07" height
do i need to provide a separate foundation for it or i can just lay it on the slab -on -grade with a 6" raised pad on the slab-on- grade?
can anyone tell what is criteria of selecting individual footing for a pump? what determines we use an individual footing?  i appreciate if you know some sources that clearly have addressed this. is a code that determines that?
please if you need more information of pump let me know so i will post that.
i thank you in advance for your directions.
sincerely,

6" thick slab on grade may not be sufficent unless the system has isolators that limit transmissibility, and also spreads the load to the slab.
how large is the slab on grade (length x width x thickness) and does it have any rebar in it?
here's a rule of thumb for rotating equipment:
mass of concrete = 3 x the mass of the equipment.  i think technically it's the rotating mass but i've always just used the weight of the equipment.
so in your case, you need about 2600 lbs of concrete.  which leads to an isolated foundation.
hi - ctw (structural), the slab-on -grade that i am thinking to use to furnish the floor is a 6" reinforced slab on grade. the dimension of floor is 56 foot by 43ft which also i am having two isolated footing for two boilers. to me since this is a small pump i think is waste of concrete to allocate an isolated heavy concrete footing also i am not sure that vibration that this pump is generating is that high to endanger the slab on grade and crack it in case that i just lay it on the slab?
what is the amount of vibration that makes crack or damages the slab ? i didn't find a number or limit on this? anyone have any knowledge and information?
there must be a limit that if the equipment vibrates low or below a number then is okay to lay it on slab and not isolate it? does it make sense? please correct me if i am wrong. i appreciate it.
thanks,
bfstr.
