slab deflections and cracks
can anyone lead tell me the limits for slab deflections for both one-way and two-way slabs?
also, i would like to ask for the shape or formation of cracks at both top and bottom side for failure in slab design. ( both one-way and two-way)...
i am studying these items and would like to ask for some inputs.
thanx!
you probably have a local concrete design code, and it ought to answer your questions about deflection. the allowable deflection depends on whether you are talking about normal everyday (servicability) loads or the maximum for which the structure is designed (ultimate limit). then it also depends on the type of walls, partitions etc on top of the slab.
given that data is not available, where is the best location to splice the reinforcement of columns?
i have conflicting answers on this matter.
1.) others would say that the best location is within the middle half of the clear distance of the column.
2.)others will specify just above the floor line.
can anyone comment or lead me to a literature that can clarify this issue?
thank you for all the help. |
