strength to weight ratio of steel
can anybody tell me what the strength to weight ratio of grade 43 steel is?
find a job or post a job opening
what use this information will be? weight of almost all steels is same so your question is not clear.
ciao.
this came from a yahoo search for "grade 43 steel", it's from the material engineering forum ...
"grade 43 is an old number for structural steel acc. bs.
   it is now called s275.
   tensile strength 410-560 mpa
yield  275 mpa (for tk up to 16mm)"
so which temper are you using ?
and what strength ... tension, compression, bending ...
if it is of any help the composition for the steel, s275 (old grade 43) can be found in bs en 10025 hot rolled products of non alloy structural steels.  this is a european standard.  there are however different types of s275 steel  s275j0 s275j2 for example. they have different impact properties.
if you are looking at it from a design point of view, i.e bending, shear, tensile, compression in structural members you could look at bs 5950 structural use of steelwork in building.  this is a british ultimate limit state design code.
