timber wearing surface on glulam bridges
does anyone have any experience with longitudinal glulam deck panels with a timber wearing surface? looking for any arguments for/against this approach. client is looking to widen existing structure and wants a timber wearing surface to match the existing structure. any fatal flaws that anyone knows about? my main concern is water collecting between and below the deck planks and the adverse results of freeze/thaw. the bridge is located in new jersey.
