wind pressure during construction
dear all,
will you please tell me the procedure to be adopted for arriving at the wind pressure for building (height <60) during construction & reference for the same.

there are many factors that must be considered for a building under construction (for wind). if the structure was originally analylized as a partially enclosed structure or an open structure the difference probably would not be significant.
here is a link that may help:
erv is right on target. this asce standard is excellent.
hi erv/lutfi,
i don't have code right now. i have a precast building of 80' x 80' and height is less than 60'.
will you please indicate the parameters involved and load combinations to be used ?

what you need is asce 7-98 or asce 7-02, without one of these you can not do an evaluation because you access to the presure coefficients.
you can download this program that is very accurate and can be used with asce 7-98 or 7-02:
windloads on structures 2002
get a copy of asce 37-02 "design loads on structure during construction". it has chapter 6 "environmental loads" which includes wind, snow and seismic.
about wind it says that for construction period less than 6 weeks load may be multiplied by 0.75, for construction period of 6 weeks to 1 year load may be multiplied by 0.8, etc.
good luck.
sorry, i wanted to say that the wind speed may be multiplied by 0.75 and 0.8 respectively.
thanks to everyone |
