does anyone have a code reference for deflection limitation for a loadbearing wood stud wall backing brick veneer?  thanks.

what code are you designing to?  bia suggests a deflection criteria of l/600.  ibc states l/240 for brittle veneer.  which ever criteria you use, the ibc and the fbc let you multiply the lateral load by 0.7 when calculating deflections. hope this helps.
