a little rtf for drawing notes
api peeps, i found this when i was doing some macro recording of notes:
"<para indent=10 findent=-10 number=on ntype=1 nformat=$$. nstartnum=0>"
it controls what elements are shown in a note, such as bullets or numbering. if you want to show bullets, replace number=on with bullet=on. for example:
nstring = "notes:" & vbcrlf & _
"<para indent=10 findent=-10 number=on ntype=1 nformat=$$. nstartnum=0>" & _
ucase("this is the first note.")
returns
notes:
1. this is the first note.
i think this little tidbit of information reveals many possibilities with programming rich text formatting of notes & annotations, and it may be related to perl (of which i know nothing about). your thoughts?
to defeat the wheat, go against the grain.

i call it swml for its similarity to xml/html. you can investigate further by creating a note with attributes that you like (changing fonts/font sizes, bullets, etc), selecting the note, and running this macro.
also, try linking a note to some object on the sheet (a balloon, surface finish mark, etc) and running the macro. play. explore.
i'll get you eh steve, if it's the last thing i dooooo!
