best method of exporting a solidworks 2008 assembly to 3d st
i am running solidworks 2008 and i have an assembly that consists of 60 parts. it is basically a two piece enclosure (with complex surfacing) and various exterior parts. i need to export this into something a graphic artist can open with 3d studio max and do some renderings with. after searching through the google results...i know there are several methods of doing this, importing the solidworks files directly, using iges, stl, step...just wondering if there is a method that someone here would recommend that will best keep the geometry and part location information.

can 3dsm read parasolid files? if so that would probably be the best format.

try saving as .stl. select the quick weld radio selector in the "import stl file" window. another trick i found online for less complex models is to "add a double-sided material to the model".
i have tried some simple models this way, it works good. you may have to do some trial and error depending on the complexity of the models.
