bom acting up
for no reason i have two parts using the same item number. 2 completely different parts using item 39. any ideas why this is happening? i am about to edit the bom manually but i'd rather not!

putting a bandaid on the problem solves nothing. you waited a whole 7 minutes for a response before giving up and sort of moving on. if this happened once, it very well may happen again. what about future changes? are you going to continually micro-manage your bom?
did you talk to your var or search the kb? eng-tips is just one of numerous resources to get answers to your issues. sometimes it's better to spend a little more time to actually fix an issue than to spend copious amounts of time keeping it covered up.

could be an issue with like part numbers, different configurations. or like configuration names, different part numbers depending on how the bom is setup. (see part configuration grouping in bom command/edit)
i wish this option was selectable for specific parts, but it's global.
if you mix configuration specific parts with different numbers and configuration specific parts with the same numbers you'll end up with the latter having multiple lines in the bom showing the same part # & description if you're using "display configurations of the same part as seperate items". |
