convert assembly model to fea model.
hi
i have an assembly on which i want to perform fea. i want to convert the assembly into one piece. is there any way i can combine all the parts to form one component. i have tried using 'save as part' on the assembly but  for fea it still considers all components as separate parts. i do not want to use 'surface contacts for my fea. there is a feature in pro-e called 'merge' that combines all the parts to form one component which can be used as fea model but i am not aware of any such feature in sw. any suggestions.
thank you
once you have saved your assembly as a part, you can use combine to combine the various bodies into a single body.

hrp21,
were you able to combine all the parts as one part using the combine feature in sw? i'm currently in the same situation where i need to run a fea analysis but the fea software reads the model as individual parts not as one part.
please help.
thank you.
kevin
kevin,
why not try it yourself?  surely that would get you an answer quicker than waiting for someone to reply to a dead thread.
