cosmos, flow and other sim apps in api
i am interested in programming some add-ins that will access information generated by simulation tools like cosmos and cosmos flow, or create information in my own apps, in a similar fashion.
in particular; when flow is simulated (or light rays in optis) there are lines or splines generated, that are not directly selectable. i thought maybe they were 3d sketches on a locked layer, but there are no layers visible in my assemblies when i run a simulation.
1) does anyone even know what we call these lines?
2) does anyone know how to gain access to them, generate them, or otherwise manipulate them? for example, i'd like to store one simulation and be able to overlay it with another, taken after model changes.
3) is this a tightly-guarded trade secret, available only to development partners? could be; some of the higher-priced functions in advanced versions of simulation programs is just a way to access and visualize the data that is already generated by these simulations. i'd sure like to write some of my own macros that could generate them though, as they are cleaner than ordinary 3d sketches (they go away when the model is rebuilt, for example).
thanks,
danielle
