problem with referencing sketches from master model (swx 200
hello all,
i am wondering if anyone has run into this functionality issue with swx 2008 sp3.1:
i have a master model and a derivative part. the derivative part has the master model inserted into it.
i was excited to see in 2008 that the solidworks gods have finally given the functionality to bring in sketches (absorbed and unabsorbed) from the master model into the derivative part so you can make references to them. the problem is that it does not work all that well, unless i am doing something wrong..
i have a sketch in my derivative part that references a sketch in the master model.
now lets say i go into the master model and modify a dimension or two of this sketch.
when i go back into the derivative part, i can see that the sketch from the master model has changed, but my sketch feature in the derivative part that references this sketch does not update to it.
i can hit rebuild a million times and do the edit sketch command and still nothing.
**the only way i got it to work (and this is really hack) is to do the edit sketch command, delete a constraint, then undo the delete, exit the sketch, then it magically updates correctly to the sketch that its referencing.
is this a bug or is there some hidden setting that i have to change?

ash, unfortunately the sw gods are much like the mythological gods. they are often too busy turning themselves into swans or sea foam in order to get chicks to see that their creations are going haywire. well, not actually, but as far as i can tell you're not doing anything wrong.

did you create the "derivative part" by inserting the "master model" as a base part in a new part?
have you tried using ctrl q instead of just rebuild. |
