sw-created date in 'short date' format
i have been looking all over and checking the solidworks help multiple times and i cannot seem to solve this problem.
i am trying to fix up my document templates so that when i make a new drawing the date is automatically inserted for the date i created the drawing, and then does not change. i was able to find that this is done by linking the text box to the "sw-created date" property, however it inserts the full date, including the time, in long date format. the link to property dialog box has options to both change the date format and remove the time, but these are both grayed out and inaccessible no matter what options i choose.
anybody know a fix for this problem?

you will have to set the date format in windows to the short date mode for solidworks to use it, i believe this is still true.
from what i understand windows uses both short and long date formats for different things, and i have seen no way of choosing a preferred format. sw-created date seems to use the long date.
as i said, the link to property dialog box has the option to change format but the option is inaccessible, i was wondering if there was a known way to enable this option.
i have attached a picture of the dialog box.
it's show time!
when first creating the link, and after selecting sw-created date, you should be able to select short date and de-select show time.
could this be just an xp / vista problem? because all the help i have seen where they say the option is available is in windows xp. on my vista computer those options are always greyed out at all times, no matter which options i pick.
could be, i'm running xp. i won't have access to a vista version till late today.
have you let your var know? |
