iso vs. milstandard
what advantage, if any, will there be when the iso standard replaces the mil standard? if so, in what area?
eng-tips forums is member supported.
you will never see the replacememt any time soon. the iso std is incorporating into the mil spec. for various industries. the final point to remember is that it is highly driven by your oem industries.
ex: a simple clutch from warner electric will subject to iso std if it is to be sold in europe.
the same clutch to be sold to the military will have to conform to mil spec. on the coil assembly which means you have to show the calculation of temparature versus input voltages and winding of the coil. are there any differences between the two clucthes? = one has the calculation (mil-spec). the other (iso) is not (but experimental temp. data)
have fun.
