allowable deflection at top of legs of open gantry crane
hi,
i am designing an open gantry crane for the first time though i have experience of eot cranes.i need to know the allowable deflection at top of legs under normal operating conditions i.e maximum acceleration with wind load of 25kgf/sq m.any help in this matter would be highly appreciated.

somewhere along the line - i've seen l/400 as a baseline for free-standing crane columns for crane a runway systems. from there, i add that i don't like a lot of movement in my runway systems - and bump the deflection to l/700 or so. with crane systems, i believe that movement = fatigue = eventual failure. i would use similar approach with gantry column design. |
