anchorage into urm
i am looking to use some hilti hy20 epoxy anchors into an 8" red brick wall to resist in-plane shear loads only. the problem is that the icbo report(er 4815) only gives values for anchors w/ 8" of embed. into brick walls with a minimum thickness of 13 inches!! what am i missing here? where do you get values for thinner walls with less embedment?
then you meed to ascertain if icbo -with which i am nor familiarized- is the only allowed path for of course anchors with less embedment are useful to your purpose, as you can see for example in ubc-94.
if you can use other code than icbo to make your proof for the approving authority, use one of such. if possible and not listed, use any you are confident in.
if you are not in california and allowed to use hilti product technical guide, you may find on p.85 that for 3/8" hit-i insetr anchor with 3 3/8" embedment for brick with holes, allowable shear is 1380 lbs. minimum spasing = two complite bricks in any direction, edge distance = two complite bricks or 16 inches.
good luck. |
