blocked diaphragm
what other ways are there to satisfy the blocked diaphragm requirements other than framing? for example, can tongue and groove plywood or these "clips" be used to get the higher capacities of blocked diaphragms without all the expense of additional framing members? everytime i put a blocked diaphragm requiredment on my drawings, i catch h.... from the contractor.
you can use staples on tongue and groove diaphragms but they have to be at least 1 1/8" thick sheets to use them. the staples will allow you not to have to put the add'l block
can you use the unblocked sheathing strength? i am in a high wind are so we block everything. i have used rolled steel on the outside of the studs. |
