carbon steel angle
is a-36 steel angle a good choice for round duct flanges.
the duct size is 70 1/4" o.d.
the duct is made of 1/8" thick astm 515 gr 60
the duct carries air @ 662 degrees f.
the angle size is 2" x 2" x 1/4"
check out our whitepaper library.
it would probably work but i've never heard of using a36 shapes for duct flanges.
buckhead,
you are probably using astm 515 as the duct is supposedly carrying hot air. if this is the argument, you have to use astm 515/ 516 or similar material for the flanges as well because they will also be subjected to the same (depending upon wherether the flanges can also act as fins and are in open) temperature. i am not saying a-36 wont work, only that the arguments of using different materials for ducts and stiffeners should be well found if your client is as fussy as mine usually are.
