concrete retaining wall with cmp arch penetrations
i am designing a 14' high concrete retaining wall to act as a headwall for 3-44" x 72" cmp (44" high by 72" span)arch drainage pipes.  the invert of the pipes is approximately 6' above the top of footing. the wall is 37 feet long and the cmps are 9' on center and placed symmetrically.  there is essentially 3' of concrete between the pipe edges.  i am using 35 pcf for active lateral pressure with 2' of highway surcharge.
any recommendations or techniques on how to reinforce the wall between the cmps?  i know i can provide reinforcing around the openings.
check out our whitepaper library.
use two pair of #5 bars bent to follow the curve approximately 6" outside the outside wall of pipe along with the normal reinforcing of the wall.  the bars that must stop and start due to the pipe interference do not need to be replaced or relocated due to the arch action over the pipe.
