deck weld - e60 vs e70
i received a request from the contractor to use e60 rods claiming that e70 rods are not suited for deck welding.
while i don't have the diaphragm design manual handy, i was wondering if anyone else has ever come across this matter.  can this be true?  it doesnt seem right to me.
i'll be looking into the ddm when i get back in town, but wanted to get a head start on this.
thanks for your help.
e70 are not likely needed due to the softer material of the deck.

but there's a difference bewteen "not needed" and "not suited".  i find it hard to believe that the (e70 of otherwise similar classification to the e60) would be no good.

i've never had this problem or request.  hopefully it wasn't because they just changed it and didn't tell anyone.
hgtx - not a welding expert - but it goes to the amperage used to make a e70xx liquify.  you are more likely to burn through light gauge metal than thicker structural metal therefore use the lighter electrode.
