designing "adjustable" foundation for settlement.
i have a temporary structure (5 years), that will be sitting on poor soil (about 4' of decent fill on silty clay with a very low blow count).  the thought is to build an adjustable floor over the foudation where periodically, an adjustment can be made to keep the building level as settlement occurs.
does anyone have any experience or advice?
many australian houses are built with adjustable foundations.
more accurately, they are built on stumps (short piles), on about a 3-5 foot spacing (guess). as the ground moves over the years you can duck under the house and insert packers between the top of the stumps and the main structure. this may or may not unstick your doors, and level the floor.
