dumb anchor rod question
i know that the embedment of an anchor rod is to the top of the nut that gets welded to it.  there seems to be a little hesitance (not on my part) to show this on our typical detail and i was hoping someone could point me to a reference that states this explicitly.  i have looked pretty thoroughly in the aisc base plate design guide.  i also have looked in aci app. d.  both show it graphically, but don't state it explicitly.
graphic is explicit. see diagram.
aci appx-d, see under notations and also definitions.
the hesitance is either they don't agree with your interpretation or don't want to change the detail.  so where on your plans does it prevent having the nut screwed half-way up, cutting most of the embed you should be getting?  if it isn't on your details, then it should be somewhere.  from that point of view you could argue that something is needed somewhere to define what meant by embedment for the contractor.
as far as where it's defined in code, it's hard to argue with a detail that shows exactly what is meant, for one thing.  see definition for hef page in appendix d definitions, effective embedment depth in d.1, and figure rd.0.
thank you all, that has been helpful
