embedded masonry anchors
if you have more than one headed stud embedded in a bond beam what is the intent of aci 530 with regards to shear and tension.
it seems apparent that adding studs would increase the shear capacity but it isn't addressed. does it seem reasonable that if you have a 12" wall with studs centered in the width and spaced 12" c/c that it should double the capacity for shear since the 45 degree lines don't overlap.
likewise with tension if embedded 8" and the cones both overlap and extend out the face of the wall does it seem reasonable to use the distance between studs plus 2xdepthx1.41 for ap.
if you go by capacity calculations to aci318 then the failure cone is at a slope of 1.5:1 so you should have to space them a 3 times the edge distance. however it is probably more complicated in masonry (at least grouted hollow block) because of difference in the shell and the grout and possible planes of weakness on the interface.
this is not a particularly enlightening answer is it?
