foundation has dynmic load
hi
i have foundation for amusemnt area have dynmic load
for example 1000 kn horzontal
how i use safe programm to solve that?
some people advice me to consider that static load but after x by 2 mean the load became 2000 kn
but i doubt in that
any suggestion fom anybody
we use aci 318-99
thanks
see the papers (free .pdf downloads) on this page of my website
wow, 1000 kn (100 tonnes) is a large dynamic force.  are you sure you have your units correct?  what is the frequency of the exciting force?
bowles' foundation analysis & design is a good text for dynamically loaded foundations.
measure or calculate the accelerations. if there is no effect of resonance, an acceleration of 2g means, yes, double the static load.
what are the static and dynamic components of your load, and the frequency?
the contractor give me 1000 kn horzontal dynamic load
and give me 5000 kn static load veritacal and give me own weight
without any frequency.
the contractor is evidently trying to cover stiffness with strength.  you can put enough rubber bands on the side of that foundation to resist 1000kn, but it won't be very stiff.  he needs to give you a driving frequency and you need a competent soils engineer to give you dynamic properties of the soils where this foundation is going.
check bowles' book or the arya, o'neil & pincus tome "design of structures and foundations for vibrating machines".
there is a lot to it and if your contractor is giving you loads that high, it must be a pretty serious machine...
if you "heard" it on the internet, it's guilty until proven innocent. - dcs
