hammered steel
has anyone ever designed in hammered steel? if so, what properties should you expect? is it similiar to typical structural steel?
any input would be appreciated
what is hammered steel... strain hardened by hammering? what is it used for?
dik
it is used in ornamental applications. my application is for a handrail on a historic structure.
thanks
like wrought iron? maleable iron? or is it a type of steel? the supplier should be able to provide mechanical properties... if a mild steel, yield strength should be about 30-35 ksi minimum... if you are using it for 'critical' applications, then you might have a local testing agency undertake some coupon testing...
dik
give a call to the supplier and get the mill certs if its already built, or call a local supplier and ask what he can get and have him send you the sizes and properties and then specify them accordingly, listing the supplier in the specs.
when dealing with specialty steels / aluminums / plastics / bronzes the available sizes are as important as the available materials..... |
