how to anchor/dowel masonry wall that's supported by hollow
i have a project where masonry walls are being supported by hollow core planks. they are interior and i wish to anchor/dowel them to the planks. i'm sure that someone has encountered this before. does anyone have some ideas on how to do this? i have some ideas, but they would be expensive. thanks for any help in advance!
unless you abolutely need to dowel into the plank, i would not do it. it's hard to predict whether the cmu is above a core or above the solid part of the plank.

no.419 stabilzing dowel bar.
if your talking about something like vertical cmu bars at 48" oc (ie: light cmu wall reinforcing) we usually show to break open the top of a plank core, insert an 'l' shaped dowel into the core and grout the core full.
location of cores is fairly easily determined by either marking the location of the cores before the planks are hoisted into place, or by chipping the top of the ends
(before any topping is placed) to determin core locations.
any plans to break open the top of a plank should be noted to the hollow core supplier so they can take them into account.
also, these are just 'nominal' dowels to keep the wall in place. if you need to fully develop the bars as they come out of the plank (ie: to 'fix' the base of the wall) this is not a solution for that.
