ill structural engineer
i see for illinios endorsement you have to have 27 quarter hours in structural analysis and design.
does anyone know what is defined as structural analysis and design? what about statics, dynamics, or even foundation design? i'm not too sure how serious they are over this requirement.
aaron
statics and dynamics are not structural analysis courses, they are mechanics courses and part of the engineering science required by most engineering disciplines prior to engaging in a specific area: chemical, mechanical, civil, electrical.
to qualify the courses have to be equivalent to or greater than structural analysis. so other structural analysis, matrix analysis would count or an advance structural course where energy methods are emphasized. design courses include masonry, wood, concrete and steel. prestressted concrete is also considered.

what is the conversion from quarter hours to semesters? (i thought metric was bad)
they claim you need 18 semester hours, or 27 quarter hours. they are pretty vague on their definition of structural analysis and design. the college here in town has changed from quarter to semesters. i'm sure there will be a loss there too.
anyone ever heard of illinois completing a "preliminary" review of transcripts? |
