mechanical pad
hey all - i'm providing a simple, stand alone, exterior mechanical pad to support a 2,500 lb freezer. size and soil not a problem. is it common practice to detail this unreinforced? the footprint is 12.5'x3.5' so it's really not seeing much bending. i have many interior mechanical pad details, all of which are r/f to tie to the slab. this one will not tie to anything and will not be subjected to shaking or vibration.
thanks in advance!
check out our whitepaper library.
if the slab is on a well compacted base (aggreagate compacted to 95% proctor) and a minimum of 8" thick, i would not have a problem with it.
t&s steel is not really needed for a free standing slab of that size. and if the base is solid and uniform to prevent differential settling, there will be no significant bending. |
