reactions with pipe
i wanted to know how to calculate reactions if we have a pipe filled with water being supported by a pedestals
thank you
check out our whitepaper library.
reactions to what? seismic load? surge pressures? dead load? wind? live loads? reactions in the soil, in the pedestals, in the pipe, in the supports?
what i'm trying to get is the reactions on the pedestals. they are putting a 10 in pipe fill with water (no pressure). i want to know/find the reactions on the pedestals due to the weight of the pipe plus the weight of the water.
wouldn't that just be the weight of the pipe plus the weight of the water divided by the number of pedestals? what are we missing here?
if you work for oil and gas, these horizonatal and vertical forces are calculated by piping stress using i believe ceasar software.
although pipe full of water are assumed sometimes as test loads, which is just pipe weight plus water weight.
we do add thermal friction as horizontal forces, 30% operating loads for pipe rack or pipe support design aside from thermal anchor forces from piping stress. |
