remove ice formations on new concrete slabs.
are there any products for removing ice from week old concrete slab with out damaging the slab finish? slab was poured last week when the temp was in the 40 f degrees last two days the temp has been in the teens. contractor has asked what he can do to remove the ice thats formed. the ice has created a site safety issue and the gc may have to shut down the site.
check out our whitepaper library.
i doubt if there are. take a look at "item 12" in this document
the slab should have been covered with an insulating tarp during the curing period - at a minimum 3-7 days, particularly if freezing tempertures were predicted.  you still might try covering it with an insulated tarp.  if the ground is not frozen too deep, what warmth is still there may thaw the slab under the insulated tarp.
another thought would be to dust the slab with sand to reduce the slippery surface.  using any chemical agent will damage the concrete at this young age.
