round capital forms
are round capital forms still used for flat slab construction? i haven't seen them used for quite awhile. as an alternate, i can use a small, thick square drop as a capital.
this is for a project in iowa. are there any local formwork companies that you can suggest that i should contact?
my experience with column capitals has been that the contractors complain a lot about having to form them. the last flat slab i did, the contractor advised the owner it would be less expensive to pour the entire slab thicker, which is how we proceeded. i would think round column forms would be even more of a specialty item.
agree. on every similar project i have done, the contractor preferred to used a flat plate with studrails instead of drop caps. that said, there's nothing to stop you from using a square drop cap with a round column (except cost and maybe aesthetics). |
