temporary bracing for different construction phases
i am currently working on an expansion/modification to an existing shopping mall.  unfortunately, the original structural engineer neglected to use bracing of any kind for lateral support.  the lateral resisting system consists of 8" cmu tied to the column with wall anchors and no angle at the roof to transfer the diaphragm shear load; hardly a robust system.  the modifications will be completed in three phases.  i need a line of bracing for phase 1 that will be now located in a phase 2 area (the store was originally in phase 1).  the developer wants to keep the shop open during phase 1 construction.  that means i cannot put the bracing required in a future wall until phase 2.  however, there is a temporary partition wall to separate the construction phases in the next bay. the wall will be removed in phase 2. i would like to put temporary bracing in the temporary wall.    the bay length is 40' and the height is 16'-6".  what is a good option for temporary bracing?  are there proprietary bracing systems available to rent? or should i just use rod or chevron bracing bracing and specify to remove the bracing during phase 2?  what is the cheapest and easiest is what i'm getting at?
check out our whitepaper library.
guy wires to deadmen is a cheap temporary brace system.
