add-in closes solidworks
hi there,
i have created an add-in, but on some pc's when you load the add-in it closes solidworks. when you go to tools/add-ins it is not listed.
the add-in does work on some pc's (same setup i.e., same os and service packs and sw sp) so i am not sure what could be causing the problem
if you have experienced similar problems or have have any ideas, please let me know.
thanks
you say it closes sw when loaded, yes state it is not in the list to load it?
how does it close sw does it crash, does it load first then crash, does it just close quietly. if is ever in the add-ins list? is it in the registry under hkey_local_machine\software\solidworks\addins ?
thanks for your reply.
the add-in is opened as a dll from file open. on the machine it works on, it is then added to the add-in list from the tools menu.
on one machine, when i select the dll, the splash screen of the add-in loads (which is normal) then solidworks shuts down, without any errors. when i then re-open solidworks the add-in is not listed, nor is it listed in the registry.
hi neville,
in order to use addins on a machine different to the one you have written the code with you have to register them first.
there are a few ways to do this have a look at the following threads it might help.
as for solidworks closing that sounds very strange to me especially if it does not give an error message...
cheers,
