external threading urgent
i have been given some drawnings to model and assemble.
how do i make an external threading with a size of m6*1.
the part will fit into a hole.
check out our whitepaper library.
search "threads" in the help files. you probably don't need to model the true helical threads, right--since the m6 callout would then be redundant. if you really need the helical stuff, search for "sweep" and "helix" in help.

mcmaster-carr has great examples, you may even be able to use a screw right off their website.

check my faq:
nufcshearer,
how good do these threads have to be? are you preparing a drawing with threading instructions, or is your solid model going to be used for manufacturing tooling?

if you really don't need the threads, don't model them. it takes up a whole lotta space.
