getting drawings into an app
i use solidworks for my spec sheets and i have an app that prints out my entire spec sheet and i am wondering if instead of exporting my drawings out to an image file if i can use an edrawings file and embed that into my vb code to print.
any tips on pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated.
i originally had this posted in the edrawings section but thought this might be more appropriate.
also if there is a way to do this does it show how in the book that luke malpass put together ?
thanks,
jonah
you want to take a solidworks drawing, save it as an edrawings drawing, and then print it?
drc inc.
minneapolis, mn
.designreadycontrols.com
sw2007 sp5.0
core2 quad
3gb ram
xp pro sp2
ati firegl v3600
i want be be able to put either the sw file or edrawings file into my application where it will display just the image of the drawing when i print it out. inside my application there would be several hundred drawings put in to complete my spec book.
to elaborate on my spec book application i take an image and insert it to a row, next to the image i have the product lists that are pulled from a database.
so what i am looking to do is print my whole spec sheet (300-400) products total.
if it were possible i would rather embed a solidworks drawing into the application rather than saving the drawing as an image then using photoshop to make it look decent then putting it in my app.
thanks,
jonah
you can do it but it gets a bit complicated for me to just explain in a post.
what you want is a datagrid that links into all of your sw files, then a custom cell model for one of the columns that embeds an array of axedrawingcontrols as the type (tricky), and then for each row that is created you need an event handler to initialise this cell properly to load the file dynamically at the time of the datagrid creation. this would allow you to have full edrawing control over each model too, so you could zoom in and out, rotate and print along with more.
but like i say it would be too much for me to explain this process in a post.
is that something that your book would explain?
not directly no as it is more of an edrawings/database type project and the book looks like it will take the product development area for the latter half as oppose the edrawings/pdm/documentmananger advanced topics as there is more demand for the development side of things.
if you would like some freelance programming done you can email me your requirements and i can give you a quote for the work.
